Today, many research activities involve international collaborations among Malagasy and overseas research teams, while education and training programs have a local, regional and national focus. Bez\u00e0 Mahafaly hosts numerous group workshops, outreach events, training courses, and an annual field school run by\u00a0ESSA.\u00a0 Participants variously include\u00a0local school children, adults living in villages nearby, university students, teachers, and officials at all levels of government. International research teams maintain\u00a0<a title=\"Long-term Research\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200814091231\/http:\/\/campuspress.yale.edu\/bezamahafaly\/research-and-education\/highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">long-<\/a>term<a title=\"Long-term Research\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20200814091231\/http:\/\/campuspress.yale.edu\/bezamahafaly\/research-and-education\/highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> studies\u00a0<\/a>of the diurnal lemurs, and numerous projects in the biological and social sciences have been completed or are underway, conducted by individuals from national and international institutions. \u00a0The Bez\u00e0 Mahafaly\u00a0Monitoring Program\u00a0complements and supports much of this work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bez\u00e0 Mahafaly has been a center for research and education since its inception in 1978.
